Bio

Ms. Shaffie is a senior environmental and energy professional based in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. She practices international environmental law and policy, focused on enabling the implementation of environmental policies, including advising the formation, adoption and implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. Her areas of expertise include energy efficiency, climate policy, climate finance, power sector transformation, short-lived climate pollutants, Superfund law, multilateral negotiations, air pollution, health-climate policy, waste management, and strengthening supply chains. She has managed and implemented environmental projects in multiple countries and continents. She has published numerous reports with LBNL, and is an affiliate within the Energy Analysis and Environmental Impacts Division.
 
Previously, Ms. Shaffie litigated federal environmental cases focused on the cleanup of large landfills in the United States, and prior to that, she clerked at the D.C. Superior Court.  Ms. Shaffie holds an LLM in International and Comparative Law from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, a JD from the University of Kansas School of Law, and a BA in Economics and International Studies from the University of Kansas. In Egypt, she served as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, and specialized in intellectual property law and digital platforms to bring innovations to market.
